Users are becoming increasingly accustomed to making online transactions, e-commerce has become a huge industry, with many retailers and businesses accepting online payments - and many of those that don't have gone under trying to compete.

Acquiring and integrating a payment system is much simpler than it used to be and they are now a very secure way of taking a payment. In a lot of cases it is more secure than making a payment via a chip and pin machine or over the phone as there is no human interaction involved. The payment is sent directly to the bank via an encrypted method and approved electronically, making it a fast and secure method of payment.

Fraud prevention and protection has also evolved, this also makes buying online more attractive and less risky for both the user and the web site owner.

There are various providers for online payment systems and payment gateways. We have experience with several well known providers:

  • Google Checkout
  • PayPal

All of these systems have different benefits and are more useful in certain situations. Other systems are offered by banks themselves, these are generally good and often have more bespoke integration methods, so can cost more to install.
